The center houses two wood-fired kilns: a traditional Manabigama and the Manabigama salt/soda kiln.
Over the past 10 years, weve sold over 100 sets of kiln plans to potters and organizations around the world that have chosen to build and use the Manabigama to fire their work. With a 12-hour firing schedule, small footprint and incredible flashing and ash surfaces, this little kiln has made wood firing possible for a new generation of ceramic artists and has helped bring about a renaissance in interest in this ancient firing process.
